Oral and Dental Science Research
The Department of Oral and Dental Science comprises the University teaching and research arm of the Bristol Dental School and Hospital. The Department has evolved a strong interdisciplinary research culture with productive interfacing of clinical dentistry and basic scientific research. The international quality of our research is recognized by our 5* ranking in the RAE research assessment. This marks us as one of the top two Oral & Dental Research Departments in the UK.
Research in the Department is managed under three autonomous Research Programmes: Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering (BTE), Experimental Pathology and Microbiology (EPM), and Oral Health (OH). The Programmes have evolved to cover many aspects of modern health sciences research and involve collaborations with colleagues in other Departments and Faculties. With a strong international reputation, and a mix of clinical and basic scientists, the Department is at the forefront of fundamental and translational dental research.
